Webinar 1 E-fuels – Powering the Future of Global Shipping
21 March 2023
About the event
Global shipping is accountable for about 3% of all CO2 emissions globally and is consequently one of the industries that the world is watching. Fuels produced by renewable electricity ("E-fuels") have the potential to become an important element of the energy transition in shipping and deserve a closer look by re/insurers. In this webinar we will look into the characteristics of the different types of e-fuels considering the whole value chain from production, to storage, to transportation to usage.
Our experts will elaborate on the opportunities and challenges of these new sources of energy and will discuss risk management aspects, assessment criteria and the potential implications from a re/insurance perspective. This webinar is relevant for everyone who is interested in understanding how vessels will be powered in the future and how these changes affect the re/insurance of the shipping and logistics industry.

Webinar 2 Carbon Capture and Storage – Emerging Risk or Opportunity?
29 March 2023
About the event
The webinar will introduce CCUS technologies in both single processing units and along the value chain, which could help re/insurers better understand the associated risks and explore business opportunities, the webinar targets multiple lines of business (engineering, utilities, oil and gas, marine).
Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies play a crucial role in achieving ambitious climate goals, not only for curtailing emissions from existing sources, but also for their potential to generate negative emissions. Although CCUS is included in certain regional/national climate action plans (European Union, China), the development of CCUS technologies still face challenges such as underperformance, financial barriers, safety, lack of infrastructure, etc. By providing specific and well-designed insurance products, re/insurers can potentially support clients in developing CO2 mitigating solutions.

Webinar 3 Green Steel: Decarbonising a Hard-to-abate Sector
12 April 2023
About the event
What are the implications of changing traditional steel production methods to low carbon technology in the short, medium and long term and what does this change mean for re/insurers as the steel industry has set a net-zero emission goal for 2050?
Reinsurance Special lines and Swiss Re Institute are hosting a webinar on the decarbonization across the steel industry. In this webinar, we will give a brief overview of the technologies being used and developed to decarbonize steel production and share the associated implications for the re/insurance sector.
