How to build climate resilience in Europe, Middle East and Africa

Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) forms a diverse region that is exposed to multiple natural hazards, although it is less exposed to tropical cyclones than other regions in the world. The key perils in terms of expected loss are windstorms and earthquakes, followed by floods. Secondary, weather-related perils, specifically floods and severe convective storms, dominated recent losses in EMEA.

On this site you'll find interactive charts on the protection gap by region and country, sigma Nat Cat and other resources for download as well as thought leadership articles. Under the section "Swiss Re Leaders Talk Nat Cat" our EMEA leaders discuss Nat Cat drivers and trends in the region, and what Solutions Swiss Re can offer to mitigate this risk in partnership with our clients.
