SONAR Dialogue on Biodiversity Investing in nature protection and restoration in Europe

In the third chapter of our SONAR Dialogue Series we will discuss concrete actions underway on protecting biodiversity in the European Union (EU). In Europe, nature preservation and restoration have been put at the core of the EU Green Deal, which aims to transform the EU economy and society to meet climate ambitions and protect the lives of citizens and future generations.  

On 23rd November, from 11.00 to 11.45 (CET), we will have the privilege of a dialogue with Marius Vaščega, Head of Cabinet to the European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries. Following a keynote speech, Mr Vaščega will join C-level representatives from the financial sector to explore how Europe can best finance the transition to green investments to help advance the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030.  

This event follows our discussion with Elizabeth Maruma Mrema, Executive Secretary of the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and Co-Chair of the Taskforce for Nature Financial Disclosures. Over the course of an hour, we discussed the outcomes of COP 15 and the next steps necessary to translate the new global biodiversity framework into concrete policy actions.
