About the Role

Step into an intellectually stimulating position where your expertise will influence strategic decisions across our global operations. As our Life & Health R&D Manager, you'll lead groundbreaking research that transforms how we approach disease and mortality developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish research foundations for major industry trends and drivers that impact life and health insurance
  • Develop forward-looking views on key L&H portfolios across major markets to enhance strategic decision-making
  • Lead cross-functional global research on mortality and morbidity patterns and their implications
  • Provide expert guidance on data analytics of large health datasets, unlocking valuable insights
  • Challenge established thinking by engaging with business function leaders on their market perspectives
  • Represent Swiss Re by presenting and occasionally publishing research insights at industry events

About the Team

The global Life & Behavior R&D team provides unique insights into portfolio drivers and capital steering.

We identify and analyze structured/unstructured datasets throughout the world that provide insights on health trends and developments. The gained research insights establish the basis for the future prediction of health and mortality trends.

We provide thought leadership and client services within and outside Swiss Re on key research topics such as medical advances, consumer behaviors and ageing populations.

We establish effective partnerships and collaborations with universities, data providers and research organizations on a global basis.

About You

You're a curious, analytical thinker who thrives at the intersection of science, data, and business impact. Your ability to translate complex research into actionable insights makes you an invaluable partner across the organization. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity and enjoy collaborating with diverse stakeholders to drive innovation.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:

  • Data science background with experience working on structured and unstructured data sets using diverse data science methods
  • Deep knowledge in the areas of cancer, cardiovascular disease or cognitive disorders
  • Confirmed experience in medical, epidemiological or public health research for at least 5 years

These are additional nice to haves:

  • Insurance business experience in the Life & Health insurance industry
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • An agile self-starter mindset with a passion for innovation and research
  • Experience in translating scientific findings into business applications
  • Network within the medical research community

For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between (min salary, currency) and (max salary, currency) for a full-time role.

The specific salary offered considers:

• the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role

• the applicant's own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience

In the situation where you do not meet all the requirements or you significantly exceed these, the offered salary may be below or above the advertised range. In addition to your base salary, you may be eligible for additional rewards and benefits including an attractive performance-based annual bonus.

Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week
