An economist by training, Darren Pain is The Geneva Association’s Director of Cyber and Evolving Liability and leads the associated research workstreams on each topic. His research reports on cyber include an investigation of potential re/insurance solutions to protect against losses from hostile cyber activity, an insurance market perspective on ransomware and industry progress in understanding cyber accumulation risks. Prior to joining The Geneva Association, Darren worked at the Swiss Re Institute, researching and writing about strategic issues facing the re/insurance sector, such as product innovation, new accounting regimes and digital distribution. Before Swiss Re, Darren had a career in central banking, working for both the Bank of England and the European Central Bank in various analytical functions spanning monetary policy, financial stability and financial market operations.
