Jochen is a Senior Principal Modeler in the earthquake model development team at Moody’s RMS in Zurich. Since he joined Moody’s RMS in 2014, he focused on developing earthquake and tsunami risk models for Moody’s RMS global products.
In 2005, he received his PhD in geophysics from ETH Zurich (CH), conducted post-doctoral research there and at the California Institute of Technology (CA, USA), and specialised on statistical seismology, earthquake forecasting and seismic hazard assessment.
Co-leading the development of the European Seismic Hazard Model 2013 (ESHM13), the predecessor of the European Seismic Hazard Model 2020 (ESHM20) is one of the many highlights of his career.
Jochen, currently leads the development of earthquake models. He represents Moody’s RMS in the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) governing board as well as in the Consortium of the European Facilities for Earthquake Hazard and Risk (EFEHR).
