Jonas Jägermeyr is a climate change scientist and crop modeler. He studies food systems and global food security at the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies, the Climate School at Columbia University, and the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).

He works towards improved understanding of how climate change affects food systems, developing pathways for attaining the SDGs, and how to feed 10 billion people within environmental limits. As a central initiative within AgMIP, he co-leads the Global Gridded Crop Model Intercomparison Project, and he is the coordinator of the agriculture sector in ISIMIP, a cross-sectoral model intercomparison project. AgMIP, led by the 2022 World Food Prize laureate, Dr. Cynthia Rosenzweig, is a global effort to advance understanding and to improve future agricultural and global food systems.

His activities leverage large-scale computational infrastructure, remote sensing, and novel historical and future climate datasets to work towards an operational framework to improve the understanding of food system vulnerabilities and adaptation capacities targeting more sustainable future food systems.
