Prof. Dr. Manuel Romero-Gómez is a specialist in digestive diseases. He is the Chief of Liver and GI Section at the Virgen del Rocío University Hospital and a Professor of Medicine at the Medical School of the University of Seville. He is Head of SeLiver Group at the Institute of Biomedicine of Seville (IBIS), Ciberehd group 47/2006 and CTS-532 research group in Andalucia, and a Director of Hepatic, Digestive and Inflammatory Diseases Translational Research Program at IBIS. He is an external expert in Scientific Committee at IRyCIS, FPS, ISCIII, ANR, IHU-3, European Commission and NIH/NIDDK, and a subproject leader and National Leader on European projects FLIP and LITMUS and general coordinator of NASH-PI. In addition, he is vice president (President elect) of AEEH, coordinator of the Personalised Medicine working group in Covid-19 in Andalucia, Spain and a member of the Portuguese committee for the elimination of viral hepatitis.
Manuel has demonstrated his innovative and entrepreneurial skills by developing more than 10 patents during his scientific trajectory. He has published more than 444 peer-reviewed scientific papers in top journals of the field (Lancet, New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Hepatology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nature Communications).
