Sustainability Report and TCFD 2021

Together, our Sustainability Report 2021 and climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD), which are fully integrated into our Financial Report 2021, present a detailed account of our company's performance with regard to sustainability, and climate change in particular.

Our Sustainability Report 2021 describes our Group Sustainability Strategy with its ambitions and topics and offers a comprehensive review of the actions we took in the reporting year to implement the strategy. Specifically, it looks at our achievements in the following areas of our business: re/insurance solutions, risk management, investments, stakeholder dialogue, operations, our people, and corporate governance and compliance.

This year's edition presents several new features:

  • An overview of our sustainability performance highlights in 2021
  • A timeline of our major commitments
  • A "past milestones" element in each main chapter
  • A more detailed topics and goals table, which summarises the progress we made in the reporting year against our targets.
  • A comprehensive data annex covering both the Sustainability Report and the TCFD.

In the context of the report, we also asked our Group CEO Christian Mumenthaler what he regards as Swiss Re's main achievements of 2021 and how our sustainability commitments will shape our future priorities. You can watch a short video of this and read a Q&A on his role as Co-Chair of the WEF Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders.

Complementing our Sustainability Report, our climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD) aim to improve our investors’ and other stakeholders’ ability to appropriately assess and price climate-related risk and opportunities in Swiss Re’s re/insurance business, investment activities and operations.

Both reports have received independent verification from KPMG AG.

On our reporting home you can find the full online version and a downloadable PDF of our Sustainability Report, a downloadable PDF of our climate-related financial disclosures (TCFD) and the new data annex as an Excel file.
